Anguilla

Anguilla
By Steve Sears

Anguilla is an island located in the eastern Caribbean approximately 500 miles east of Puerto Rico near Antigua and Barbuda. Like many of the idealic islands of the Caribbean, Anguilla has a year round warm climate with beautiful white sand beaches. There is an abundance of year round outdoor activities including: skiing, para-sailing, swimming, wind surfing, golf and much more. The water temperature averages 80 degrees year round.

Since the seventeenth century Anguilla has been a British dependent territory, considered a Crown colony. Therefore, Britain is responsible for its defense and foreign affairs. It is a stable country presided over by a British Governor, and its legal system is based on English Common Law with some local changes.

The official language is English and the official currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar. However, the US dollar circulates frequently for local commerce purposes. Furthermore, there are no exchange controls, money can be taken in or out of the island without any permission, and profits can be repatriated easily in any currency.

As with most of the rest Caribbean countries, Anguilla’s economy is mainly based on tourism, offshore business, financial services and new construction. A remarkable characteristic of this country is that the taxes are based on consumption, not on income or productivity.

Anguilla can be a very advantageous, location since you’re automatically receives a fifty-year guarantee against future taxation. The only two requirements for this guarantee are that the settler and beneficiaries must be non-residents of the island and the trust property might not include land.
This island is a very convenient place to invest and to do business.

Anguilla Caribbean

By Jason Stepp

If you know you’re interested in traveling to the Caribbean Islands, you have a variety of choices for your final destination. You can try a fun cruise throughout the islands in order to visit all of the best hot spots, or you can fly directly to one of the many wonderful islands found in this region of the world. One of the islands from which you can choose is Anguilla.

Anguilla is not one of the most popular islands when talking about Caribbean travel sites, but for that very reason, it is great if you are looking for a more private Caribbean vacation, without lots of other tourists. Anguilla is actually a British overseas territory and is the most northern of the Leeward Islands. Anguilla is comprised of one larger island, including the capital city of The Valley, and also includes a number of tiny islands and cays, most of which are privately owned or uninhabited. Some of the other smaller islands that are part of the Anguilla chain include Dog Island, the Prickly Pear Cays, Scrub Island, Seal Island, and Sombrero, or Hat Island.

The climate on Anguilla is generally what you would expect to find in this tropical region of the world. The island does get northeastern trade winds, so it is fairly dry compared to other tropical islands, with the most rain coming in September and October. Anguilla is also along the path of some hurricanes in the summer and fall.

When traveling to Anguilla, make sure you spend some time in the beautiful Caribbean water. Anguilla is known for its coral reef, which is home to a variety of sea animals and plants. The land itself is mostly sandy and not particularly good for farming industries. However, the waters along the coast are great for fishing, so if you enjoy that sport, you may be interested in applying for a fishing license and talking to some fishing outfitters in Anguilla when planning your Caribbean travel.

As with most Caribbean islands, if you want to travel to Anguilla, you need the proper paperwork. Before you leave, apply for a passport, and it is important to be able to show either a return plane ticket or a ticket to otherwise leave the island at some point. Make your hotel reservations at least a few months in advance in order to find the best deals for your stay in the Caribbean.

There is much more to the Caribbean Island’s than Anguilla, and Jason Stepp runs a blog that will open your eyes to all of the beauty that the Caribbean Island’s have to offer. To visit his Caribbean Vacation Information blog, click here.

Anguilla Beaches

Anguilla Beaches
By James A. Penn

Anguilla is located in the Caribbean Sea, the northern most island in the Leeward Island chain. It’s nearest neighbor to the south is St. Martin/Saint Maarten. It has a population of just 12000 inhabitants, is sixteen miles long and three miles wide at its widest point.

Anguilla is perhaps one of the lesser known Caribbean islands. It is renowned for its natural beauty and serene tranquility and is a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of every day life. It is the perfect vacation getaway for families and couples alike and is a popular holiday destination among holiday makers.

Anguilla is also famous for its beautiful, white sandy beaches which are hugely popular among tourists and local inhabitants. Anguilla boasts 33 beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters and deserted sands which add to the tranquility and relaxation of the island.

One of the most popular Anguillan beaches is Shoal Bay East. This is one of the bigger beaches on the island and also one of the most serene. Shoal Bay East is scattered with beach bars and covered in white powdery sands and this is perhaps the reason for why it has been voted the beast beach in the world on numerous occasions by top tourist magazines.

Another popular beach is Barnes Bay which is situated on a secluded island which means the beach is virtually always empty. Like Shoal Bay East, this beach has beautifully white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters.

The final beach that will be covered in this article is Sandy Ground, which like the other two beaches, has white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, however it does also have one stark contrast. Sandy Ground is a lively and eventful beach with a heck of a lot of people and boats as people from around the world dock their boats here when they visit. This beach may not be the perfect for relaxation, but it’s great if you’re ready to have one big party!

The three beaches outlined in this article are just the tip of the iceberg. Each with their white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters are a tourists dream and you will be left speechless by the natural beauty of the beaches. There are also thirty more attractive, elegant and picturesque beaches and as many should be visited on your trip to Anguilla. Anguilla may not be one of the most famous islands of the Caribbean, but it sure does have some spectacular beaches.
